Welcome to Episode 3 of my FIFA 19 Inter Milan Career Mode series! Last month, we maintained our 100% record in Serie A and won our first Champions League match against Tottenham.

This month, we’ve got three matches in Serie A (including the Milan derby) and two Champions League games against PSV and Barcelona.

Let’s see how we got on in Episode 3 of this FIFA 19 Inter Milan Career Mode series.

October 2018

PSV (Champions League)

Team News:

  • Samir Handanovic starts in goal, with a back four of Kwadwo Asamoah, Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, and Sime Vrsaljko ahead of him.
  • Ivan Perisic and Mateo Politano man the flanks, while Marcelo Brozovic and Radja Nainggolan pair up in the middle of the park.
  • Mauro Icardi leads the line, with Joao Mario providing support in the no. 10 role.

Match Report:

  • Icardi gives us the lead in the 24th minute, sweeping in a cross from the left.
  • He goes very close to getting a second goal with a volley that goes just over the bar.
  • But a few minutes later, Nainggolan doubles the lead with a powerful shot from just inside the box.
  • In the second half, Politano wraps up the win in the 58th minute with a header from Perisic’ cross.
  • With the win, we sit top of the group ahead of our next opponents Barcelona on goal difference.

SPAL (Serie A)

Team News:

  • Andrea Ranocchia and Miranda come into central defence in place of De Vrij and Skriniar.
  • Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino replace Brozovic and Nainggolan in central midfield.
  • Keita Balde takes the place of Politano on the right wing.

Match Report:

  • Icardi (who else) puts us into the lead with a tame strike from outside the box in the 33rd minute.
  • However, SPAL equalise against the run of play just before halftime through Mirco Antenucci.
  • In the second half, Balde puts us back in front with a deft finish into the far corner.
  • Some suicidal defending late on gives SPAL a chance at another equaliser, but thankfully Simone Missiroli fires over the bar.
  • We hold on for the narrow win, which keeps us top of Serie A on 24 points – eight points clear of Milan, Sampdoria, and Chievo.

AC Milan (Serie A)

Team News:

  • Skriniar replaces Ranocchia in the only change at the back.
  • In midfield, the first choice pair of Brozovic and Nainggolan return after being rested against SPAL.

Match Report:

  • Icardi is denied early on by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but it doesn’t take long before he breaks the deadlock in the 15th minute.
  • However, Patrick Cutrone equalises 20 minutes later with a shot that leaves Handanovic flat footed.
  • Balde manages to put us back in the lead on the stroke of halftime, and that’s how it stays until the end.
  • The derby win maintains our 100% record and sees us open up a 10 point lead over Juventus. Milan are a point behind them, level with Sampdoria and Chievo who both have a game in hand.

Barcelona (Champions League)

Team News:

  • No changes to the team that defeated Milan in the derby last time out.

Match Report:

  • We get off to a perfect starts as Perisic slams in the opener in the 24th minute.
  • In the second half, Lionel Messi equalises for Barcelona with a fine finish that Handanovic can’t do anything about.
  • Just as we look like holding on for a credible draw, Ousmane Dembele fires in a late winner in the 87th minute.
  • The heartbreaking defeat means we lie in 2nd place behind Barcelona, with Spurs 3 points behind us. We won’t have to wait long for our shot at revenge, as we play Barca in our next group game.

Lazio (Serie A)

Team News:

  • De Vrij and Danilo D’Ambrosio are drafted into the backline to give Asamoah and Miranda a breather.
  • In midfield, Vecino replaces Brozovic while Politano comes in for Balde.
  • Borja Valero replaces Joao Mario in the no. 10 role.

Match Report:

  • Ex-Roma man Nainggolan goes agonisingly close with a shot in the 17th minute before Perisic gives us the lead 5 minute before halftime.
  • In the second half, Lazio have a couple of decent opportunities but Handanovic is on hand (no pun intended) to stop Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Marco Parolo.
  • The narrow win means we have made it a perfect 10 wins out of 10 in Serie A. Second-placed Chievo are 10 points behind.

So that brings us to the end of October 2018. Our perfect start to the league continues with 10 wins out of 10 games, but we suffered our first defeat in the Champions League to Barcelona.
